Oh, ok!
I don't think the author intended it to be magic as is witchcraft or sorcery, but a natural part of a fantasy world that had some different laws of nature and different elements from real life. He's a Christian, and in one part of a book the character Leeli asked her mom what the magic was, and her Mom replied, What’s magic anyway? If you asked a kitten, ‘How does a bumblebee fly?,’ the answer would probably be ‘Magic.’ Aerwiar [the setting of the book] is full of wonders, and some call it magic. This is a gift from the Maker — it isn’t something Leeli created or meant to do, nor did you mean to see these images. You didn’t seek to bend the ways of the world to your will. You stumbled on this thing, the way a kitten happens upon a flower where a bumblebee has lit … The music Leeli makes has great power, but it is clear the Maker put the power there when He knit the world. So I don't think the Wingfeather elements of magic are meant to be the kind of magic God outlaws - no more than superheroes' powers are 'magic' either.
BUT! That being said.... I think it's REALLY AWESOME that you're holding onto your convictions. Lots of things are important in life - working hard, doing school, being nice, helping the needy, finding balance, having fun.... but the most important thing is above all else to obey God. So it's great that you're following the convictions he gives you and a really hope you keep doing that each day in every area of life. <3 You go, girl.
